The GPA calculator is based on the standard formula used by almost all colleges and universities. This formula multiplies units (also called hours, credits, or credit hours) by the number of "grade points" assigned to a letter grade (on the 4.0 scale, an A equals 4.0 and an F equals 0). This yields the number of grade points per course. To calculate the GPA, the calculator divides your total grade points by your total hours. *The values assigned to each letter grade may differ at some schools.
