The GPA calculator is based on the standard formula used by almost all colleges and universities. This formula multiplies units (also called hours, credits, or credit hours) by the number of "grade points" assigned to a letter grade (on the 4.0 scale, an A equals 4.0 and an F equals 0). This yields the number of grade points per course.
